A layout can estimate material demand and reveal conflicts before cutting. Final yield still depends on the real slab, pattern direction, defects, seams, saw kerf, handling clearance, and shop review.
Only add a remnant to usable inventory after someone has measured it, labeled it, recorded the usable shape and material identity, and placed it in a known rack.
